Owing to its simple construction and the consistent twist pitch, minimal runtime differences between the wire pairs are guaranteed. This feature, commonly known as SKEW FREE, predestines this cable for applications in the field of video and KVM extenders. The basic colours of the VGA signal - red, green and blue - are each transmitted in a balanced mode through individual wire pairs. Runtime differences between the wire pairs result in a lagged transmission of the individual colour signals, producing a distorted rendition of the overall signal which results in colour shifts, colour fringes. The 4th wire pair will carry the SYNC, keyboard and mouse signals as well as RS232, USB and the audio signal with professional KVM extenders (analogue or digital, depending on manufacturer). SC-Mercator Extend U/UTP has no screen, as unshielded cables supply the best image results for these applications. The flexible jacket is made of flame-retardant PVC pursuant to IEC 60332-1.
